Principal Designer, Penelope Herbert, and Associate Designer, Renee Panteli, create beautiful homes you'll love to live in. Crazy about dogs. Passionate about your home.

Penelope Herbert

Hi, I’m Penelope
“Ever since I can remember I’ve been fascinated by architecture and design. When I was three years old, I was given a box of toy bricks with different sized paper windows, doors and cardboard roof profiles. Very high-tech. I loved it. And I recall a book in my father’s library on different houses children around the world lived in. Fascinating. Then a visiting American via ZONTA gave our home a gift of a subscription to American ‘House & Garden’. I was hooked. Constantly rearranging the household furniture was just the start.
The love of architecture and interior design has been with me seemingly forever. I grew up in Christchurch surround by High Victorian Gothic Architecture, which I adored. However, when I left high school (having studied technical drawing), I joined the film industry in New Zealand spending three years training as a Film Editor. Another passion; film + movies! However, I studied interior design formally as a sideline. Ten year later I moved to Australia. I followed my passion opening an interior design studio in 2017. When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. And I can take my dog to work.
I live and breathe interior design. It’s always with me. It always motivates me. I love what I do and I love finding new ways to create homes our clients will love to live in. No cookie-cutter crap for me. Every client is different. Every home is different. Every solution is different. I have the best job in the whole world… and a Bull Terrie X Kelpie (with some Staffie) named Chloe”.

Renee Panteli

Hi, I’m Renee
“I recall being about ten years old and telling my parents I wanted to paint my room candy pink and green. As I advised the sales assistant at Bunnings what I wanted, I realised these colours were opposite on the colour wheel. My first foray into contrasting colours. In high school I realised I wanted to study architecture at university. However, I decided to do some international travel before committing to more study.
Travelling through Europe I fell in love with architecture even more. A prevalent style that caught my eye was in Barcelona with Gothic Architecture and Art Nouveau. I was in awe of the work of Antonio Gaudi. As I got older, I gained more appreciation of individualistic design. I studied interior design full-time while also working full-time. After a trip to the USA and my first job in selections at Choices, I visited Europe again and fell in love with Eastern European Architecture. So back to study and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies.
During my final year, I joined Plush Design Interiors at the beginning of 2021. When people say ‘love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life’, I never used to believe them, but now I finally get it.
My personal style is more minimalist, however it’s exciting to design spaces for other people in different styles. I like to challenge myself physically having trekked to Everest Base Camp, which I never thought I’d do. I ran 5km every day for 31 days straight, ate RAW vegan for a week and completed the 75 Hard Challenge to name a few. I’m a dog lover too and have a beautiful Blue Merle Australian Shepherd named Chilli”.

Welcome to our fabulous world of interior + joinery design + the creation of Plush Design Interiors

Penelope and Renee have years of different experiences that have brought them together. Celebrating their mutual love of architecture, design and dogs, these Adelaide-based designers work in Auto Cad and SketchUp to bring your home to life.

However, their work is not simply about interior design. Together, these creative minds design joinery for every room and especially for wet areas and bedrooms. Open plan kitchen/living renovations that are different AND functional form a strong part of their regular work. Beautiful bathrooms and luxurious master suites run a close second.

Australians love their indoor-outdoor living, so connecting interiors and exteriors in a renovation is part of their work too. A seamless transition that creates a lifestyle uniquely for your family. In any renovation or interior design project, the elements of privacy, natural light, flow, maximizing space, noise control and fresh air are vital. So all work deeply considers these crucial architectural tenets.
